Indian Expert Questions Rajasthan Royals Management Decisions After Yashaswi Jaiswal Fumble

Share

Harsha Bhogle believes that the Royals are making a big mistake letting him go.

It hasn’t been a long time since the news first broke to the Indian cricket community. Yashaswi Jaiswal might not be a part of the Rajasthan Royals squad in the 2027 edition of the Indian Premier League. Reportedly, the 24-year-old batsman was unhappy with the way the team management was treating him. He was keen on captaining the team, and Royals were not ready to provide him with an opportunity yet.

In addition to the same, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s rise to fame was taking him away from the limelight. Pairing the same with a rather average season in 2026, Jaiswal could not draw the attention of the team in the same manner as Sooryavanshi. The entire situation reportedly became suffocating for Jaiswal, and he wanted to transfer to a team that would offer him the type of spotlight that he required and allow him to lead the team as a skipper.

Yashaswi Jaiswal deserves better from his team the next season

Before Sooryavanshi became a part of the picture, Jaiswal was the next big thing for Rajasthan Royals. His performance was phenomenal in the previous seasons of the Indian Premier League. For example, he was the leading run scorer for the team during the 2023 season. Jaiswal scored 625 runs across 14 matches in the 2023 season. He also scored a half-century in merely 13 balls against Kolkata Knight Riders in May 2023 to equal Pat Cummins and KL Rahul as record holders for hitting the fastest half-century in the IPL. With achievements like his and a proven record of scoring runs, one would expect the Royals to rely more on Jaiswal and actively try to stop him from leaving.

Considering the trade rumors that have been revolving around Jaiswal in the recent months, Harsha Bhogle was worried about where Rajasthan Royals was heading. “Yashasvi Jaiswal is one of the most talented batters in the world. He has an average season this year in the IPL considering his high standard. I think Vaibhav Sooryavanshi took all the limelight. But what was his fault?” Bhogle said according to X reports.

“There is frequent news coming that he is going to MI; now there is news that the Rajasthan Royals are in talks with the Lucknow Super Giants. Why do they want to get rid of him? He is a generational talent, and RR wants to send him to LSG. I'm a little confused with what is happening with few franchises these days."

Yashaswi Jaiswal has not dropped out of form. In his recent appearance during the India A vs. New Zealand A test series, he has been proving a menace to the Kiwis. Jaiswal has hit hundreds in two consecutive test matches, becoming an important asset for the team. It is true that the Royals have a generational talent in the form of Sooryavanshi, but sidelining Jaiswal will not be a profitable maneuver for them.
