1. Western Michigan Broncos (4-2, 2-0)

Next: at Central Michigan (October 17 at 1:30 PM)

2. Ohio Bobcats (4-2, 2-0)

Ohio flew under the radar in the early stages of the season but looked like a legitimate MAC championship contender in a 31-14 destruction of Central Michigan. The Bobcats are third in the MAC in points (27.5) and points allowed (24.7) per game.

Next: at Sacramento State (October 17 at 10:00 PM)

3. Eastern Michigan Eagles (4-3, 3-0)

Eastern Michigan escaped with a go-ahead field goal in the final minutes to steal a 25-23 win at Akron, improving to 3-0 in the MAC for the first time since 1995. The Eagles have won three games in a row and continue to climb the power rankings.

Next: Toledo (October 17 at 3:30 PM)

4. Buffalo Bulls (3-3, 1-1)

Buffalo put together its most complete performance of this season by stunning Toledo with a 23-8 upset win in the Glass City. The Bulls continued to lean on an exceptional rushing attack behind running back Messiah Burch’s 137 rushing yards.

Next: UMass (October 17 at 1:00 PM)

5. Toledo Rockets (4-2, 1-1)

Toledo fell flat on its face in a frustrating 23-8 loss to Buffalo, suffering a loss on their home field for the first time in two years. The Rockets still lead the MAC with 455.5 yards per game, but some wind was taken out of their sails with the loss.

Next: at Eastern Michigan (October 17 at 3:30 PM)

6. Miami Ohio Redhawks (3-3, 1-1)

Miami Ohio picked up a last-second 20-19 triumph at UMass to secure its first win in MAC play this season and bounce back from a disappointing loss the previous week. The Redhawks rank third in the conference with 352.7 total yards per game.

Next: Akron (October 17 at 3:30 PM)

7. UMass Minutemen (4-2, 1-2)

UMass suffered a second straight loss following a 4-0 start to the season, failing to convert a game-winning two-point conversion in a 20-19 loss to Miami Ohio. Now, the Minutemen will attempt to get back in the win column at Buffalo this week.

Next: at Buffalo (October 17 at 1:00 PM)

8. Central Michigan Chippewas (3-3, 1-1)

Central Michigan never had a realistic chance in a 31-14 loss to Ohio, trailing 31-0 at halftime and dropping to 1-1 in MAC play. The Chippewas are sixth in the MAC with 26.3 points allowed per game, but the offense just hasn’t been consistent.

Next: Western Michigan (October 17 at 1:30 PM)

9. Bowling Green Falcons (2-4, 2-0)

Bowling Green has experienced a roller coaster of a season in just six weeks, going from 0-4 in non-conference play to 2-0 in the MAC with a 38-10 win over Sacramento State. Now, the Falcons will try to extend their winning streak against Ball State.

Next: Ball State (October 17 at 12:00 PM)

10. Kent State Golden Flashes (2-4, 1-2)

Kent State continued to struggle on both sides of the field, allowing 466 yards and suffering a 38-7 loss to Western Michigan. The Golden Flashes are second-worst in the MAC with 32.5 points allowed and dead last with 13.7 points per game.

Next: at South Florida (October 17 at 7:00 PM)

11. Akron Zips (1-5, 0-2)

Akron had a 14-13 lead over Eastern Michigan at halftime before its losing streak was extended to four in a row with a 25-23 loss. The Zips have been solid on offense, but the defense is among the worst in the MAC, and it’s resulted in the recent skid.

Next: at Miami Ohio (October 17 at 3:30 PM)

12. Ball State Cardinals (1-5, 0-2)

Ball State suffered its fourth consecutive loss as well, finishing with only 90 rushing yards and falling 45-14 to Northwestern. Now, the Cardinals will look to snap their losing streak and get back in the win column at Bowling Green on Saturday.

Next: at Bowling Green (October 17 at 12:00 PM)

13. Sacramento State Hornets (1-5, 0-3)

Sacramento State fell to 0-3 in MAC play with a 38-10 blowout loss to Bowling Green, its fourth straight loss by double figures. The Hornets appear to be the conference’s worst team as the search for the first MAC win in school history continues.
