Yamamoto strikes out nine over six innings as Los Angeles gets solo homers from Pages and Edman to secure a 3-1 victory.

The Dodgers turned a tie game into a power display in the middle innings, with Andy Pages hitting his 20th home run and Tommy Edman following with a solo shot as Los Angeles beat the Brewers, 3-1, at Dodger Stadium.

Betts Gets Dodgers on the Board Early

The Brewers lost Garrett Mitchell to an injury delay in the opening inning, but Yoshinobu Yamamoto quickly settled into his night. Jackson Chourio struck out after an ABS challenge resulted in a called strike, and Yamamoto worked around a two-out walk to Jake Bauers to keep Milwaukee off the board.

Los Angeles went right to work against Robert Gasser in the bottom half. Shohei Ohtani opened the inning with a flyout, but Pages lined a single to center and Teoscar Hernández followed with a sharp single to left. Mookie Betts then brought home the game's first run with a ground-ball single to left, scoring Pages and moving Hernández to second.

The Dodgers did not add on, but the early lead gave Yamamoto room to attack.

Yamamoto stranded Joey Ortiz after a two-out double in the third, with Garrett Mitchell and Chourio striking out to end the threat. He continued to keep Milwaukee's lineup from finding a sustained rhythm, though the Brewers finally broke through in the fifth.

Brewers Answer, but Pages Answers Back

Luis Lara opened the fifth with a sharp double to right, and David Hamilton followed with a bunt single that put runners at the corners. Ortiz tied the game with a sacrifice fly to Kyle Tucker in right, bringing Lara home and making it 1-1.

It was the first real crack in Yamamoto's night, but it did not turn into a bigger inning. Garrett Mitchell struck out for the second out, and Chourio grounded into a force play to end the frame.

The tie lasted only until Pages came up in the bottom of the fifth.

After Hunter Feduccia and Ohtani were retired, Pages lifted a fly ball to left field that carried out for his 20th homer of the season. The solo shot put Los Angeles back in front, 2-1, and rewarded the Dodgers after they had failed to capitalize on several earlier scoring opportunities.

Pages had already singled twice before going deep, giving him a three-hit night at the center of the Dodgers' offense.

Edman Adds Insurance as Yamamoto Finishes Strong

Yamamoto returned to the mound with a lead in the sixth and continued to keep Milwaukee from mounting another serious push. Bauers singled to open the inning but was caught stealing second by Feduccia, and Andrew Vaughn followed with a flyout. Christian Yelich then struck out swinging to close Yamamoto's sixth and end his outing.

Yamamoto finished with nine strikeouts over six innings, allowing one run as the Dodgers handed the game to their bullpen with a one-run lead.

The Dodgers immediately added another run.

Edman opened the bottom of the sixth by driving his fourth home run of the season to center field, extending Los Angeles' lead to 3-1. Gasser retired Tucker after the homer, while Max Muncy doubled before being stranded.

Edman Adds Insurance as Bullpen Closes It Out

Milwaukee had chances late but could not solve the Dodgers' bullpen. Evan Phillips replaced Yamamoto in the seventh and worked a clean inning. Tanner Scott handled the eighth, allowing a two-out single to Chourio before striking out Bauers.

Milwaukee made its final push against Edwin Díaz in the ninth. Vaughn was hit by a pitch to begin the inning, and pinch-runner Jihwan Bae stole second. Yelich struck out on a foul tip, but William Contreras walked to put two runners aboard.

Díaz remained in control after that. Lara grounded out sharply, allowing the runners to advance, before David Hamilton drew a walk to load the bases. Ortiz represented Milwaukee's last chance, but he grounded out to shortstop Mookie Betts, who threw to Enrique Hernández for the final out.

The Dodgers did not overwhelm the Brewers with offense, but they made their biggest swings count. Pages broke the tie with his 20th homer, Edman supplied the insurance run one inning later, and Yamamoto struck out nine across six innings before the bullpen held on through a tense ninth. Los Angeles finished the job with a 3-1 victory.

The Dodgers' victory over the Brewers showcased their ability to capitalize on key moments, with standout performances from Andy Pages and Tommy Edman. Yamamoto's strong pitching laid the foundation, and the bullpen's resilience ensured the win. As the Dodgers continue their season, maintaining this level of performance will be crucial to their success.
