The Toledo Rockets host the Buffalo Bulls with a fifth straight win at stake in the MAC home opener on Saturday, October 10, at 3:30 PM at the Glass Bowl. Check out our preview, including odds, players to watch, storylines and more!
Odds
Toledo is a 20.5-point favorite over Buffalo, according to FanDuel Sportsbook, with the over/under projected at 54.5 total points.
The Rockets defeated Ball State 39-24 last week and can move to 5-1 and 2-0 in MAC play with a win over Buffalo this week.
ESPN’s matchup predictor gives Toledo a 91.3% chance to win, so the Rockets should be able to earn a fifth straight win.
Players to watch
Toledo is led by quarterback John Alan Richter, running back CJ Miller (career-best 196 receiving yards, 2 touchdowns last week), wide receiver Adjatay Dabbs, linebacker Isaac Zay (leads team with 41 tackles, 2 interceptions), and defensive end Andrew Zock.
Buffalo is fueled by wide receiver Chance Murrow (leads MAC with six touchdown catches) and running back Messiah Burch.
Storylines
The Rockets are hoping to secure a fifth consecutive win and ninth straight win at home, which would put Toledo at 5-1 and 2-0 in MAC play at the halfway point in the season. Even though the Rockets are double-digit favorites, Buffalo has some of the best offensive weapons in the conference and could put up a legitimate challenge if Toledo doesn’t come to play from the kickoff.
Series history
Toledo and Buffalo first met on the field in 1926, but the series kicked up a notch when the programs became conference foes nearly three decades ago. Since Buffalo joined Toledo in the MAC in 1999, the programs have split the last 10 meetings, including the Bulls defeating the Rockets 30-15 in 2024. The most recent matchup in Toledo was won by the Rockets 31-13 in 2023.
