Odds

Toledo is a 2.5-point favorite over San Diego State according to FanDuel Sportsbook, with the over/under set at 52.5 total points. The Rockets are coming off a 49-48 overtime triumph over Temple and can improve to 3-1 with a win over the Aztecs this week. Players to watch

Toledo is led by quarterback John Alan Richter (career-best 429 yards, 4 touchdowns last week), running back Connor Walendzak, wide receiver Adjatay Dabbs, linebacker Julian Fox (team-high 27 tackles, 1 forced fumble) and defensive end Andrew Zock. Meanwhile, San Diego State is fueled by Michigan transfer quarterback Jayden Senegal and running back Javion Kinnard.

Storylines

The Rockets are hoping to finish non-conference play on a positive note with a statement win over San Diego State on Saturday. San Diego State is one of the favorites to win the Pac-12 title this season so a win over the Aztecs would mean a lot for Toledo. Not only would it be an eighth straight win at home but it would show the nation that the Rockets are legitimate threats.

Series history

The non-conference opponents will square off for just the second time ever after San Diego State defeated Toledo 17-14 in 2022. Toledo came back from a 10-0 deficit in the fourth quarter to take a 14-10 lead in the final minutes but the Aztecs put together a game-winning drive to take down the Rockets. Four years later, Toledo is looking to enact some revenge in the rematch.
