Hailie Deegan is trying her best to revive her dying Truck dream from ashes.
The ARCA Menards West field at Phoenix and Hailie Deegan were part of a record-setting NASCAR-sanctioned event. Nearly six female drivers, including Deegan, were participating in the event, setting an ARCA West record and tying with the national ARCA series. The likes of Taylor Reimer, Hailie Deegan, Jade Avedisian, Quinn Davis, Mia Lovell, and Dystany Spurlock were participating in this weekend’s ARCA race at Phoenix. It was a special and rather important day for the representation of women in motorsports. But for Hailie Deegan, the race is far more important and personal.
Only a few weeks ago, she won her first ARCA Menards West race this year. Deegan has been facing a tough time in both NASCAR and IndyCar. Over the past three years, she participated in multiple racing programs in both NASCAR and IndyNXT. Deegan was unable to secure a top ride, so she had to prove herself with the sponsors she had. Unfortunately, it didn’t go so well for her, as she was unable to produce a memorable finish in either the Truck, the Xfinity, or the IndyNXT series.
Deegan’s NASCAR return might be underway with recent in-form finishes
While open-wheel racing was a complete disaster for Hailie Deega, her NASCAR finishes were moderately successful. Not only did she produce multiple top-10s and top-15s, but she was also finishing well for the type of equipment she was running in. After pressing the reset on her career with yet another ARCA Menards season, Deegan thinks she can finally convince her sponsors to let her have another shot at her dream.
“Next year, I mean, I would love to go Truck racing again. So we're working on everything we possibly can to be able to move forward and keep digging at it. So obviously, it’s a lot; you have to get a lot of sponsor commitments and everything and kind of end up there. So, working on stuff, but if I had my dream scenario and, I guess, an unlimited budget, that’s where I would like to go,” Deegan said during an interview posted by Jeff Gluck on X.
As of now, Deegan is still trying to build the opportunity for herself. With the way she is speaking about it, it looks like the negotiation for the same is underway, and Deegan is very optimistic. Unfortunately, neither she nor the insiders of the sport have any idea if it is going to work out yet. So for now, we need to wait for a real announcement from Deegan’s team.
