The senior linebacker remains doubtful after fracturing his right fibula against Texas A&M, leaving the Tigers without one of their defensive leaders as they prepare for Saturday’s SEC matchup.
LSU is expected to be without senior linebacker Whit Weeks when the Tigers host Alabama on November 7 at Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge.
Weeks was listed as doubtful on LSU’s initial SEC availability report released November 4. Despite earlier optimism about his potential return, CBS Sports reporter Matt Zenitz reported that the linebacker is expected to miss the matchup as he continues recovering.
Weeks fractured his right fibula during LSU’s September 26 victory over Texas A&M. The injury required surgery and has kept him out of the Tigers’ subsequent games.
Although his doubtful designation suggests some progress compared with being ruled out, his availability remains unlikely for the Alabama contest.
LSU could also be without Zach Weeks, Whit’s younger brother, who was listed as questionable on the initial availability report. His designation leaves his status uncertain heading into Saturday.
Whit’s absence would be a considerable loss for LSU’s defense, given his experience and contributions at linebacker. The Tigers will need their remaining defenders to step up against Alabama’s offense.
With kickoff approaching, LSU must prepare for the possibility of playing without both linebackers as it faces one of its toughest SEC challenges.
