Leadership became another defining aspect of his high school career. Skaljac served as team captain three times, while his father, Greg Skaljac, maintained a connection to the program as a former Brecksville-Broadview Heights basketball player.
Skaljac joined Miami University as part of its 2024 recruiting class under head coach Travis Steele. He arrived as a productive high school scorer with the ability to create opportunities for teammates.
During his freshman season in 2024-25, he appeared in 32 games. Against Defiance on December 30, he recorded a season-high 16 points, four three-pointers and three steals. His collegiate debut came against Appalachian State on November 4.
Initially serving in a supporting backcourt role behind starting point guard Evan Ipsaro, Skaljac received an expanded opportunity after Ipsaro suffered a season-ending knee injury in December 2025. Although he had primarily played shooting guard at Miami, he adapted to additional point guard responsibilities and became an important part of the RedHawks' offense.

On August 25, 2026, Miami University announced Skaljac as one of three team captains for the 2026-27 season, alongside Almar Atlason and Evan Ipsaro.
His recognition continued on October 20, when the Mid-American Conference named him to its 2026-27 Preseason All-MAC First Team.
The RedHawks enter the season following a historic 2025-26 campaign. Miami finished the regular season undefeated at 31-0, won 32 games overall and earned its first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2007. Their victory over SMU in the First Four also marked the program's first NCAA Tournament win since 1999.
Skaljac's progression from an accomplished Ohio high school guard to an All-MAC performer reflects his ability to adapt and capitalize on opportunities. His contributions as a scorer and facilitator have made him an important part of Miami's backcourt.
With his collegiate career still developing, Skaljac has an opportunity to build on his achievements and help maintain Miami's position among the MAC's leading programs.
