Rolf developed his basketball foundation at Centerville High School in Ohio, where he became a productive contributor for the Centerville Elks.
During his senior season, he averaged 17.5 points per game, demonstrating his offensive ability and establishing himself as an important part of the program.
His high school career also included significant team success. Rolf helped Centerville reach consecutive Ohio state championship games, with the Elks capturing the state championship in 2022.
Following his high school career, Rolf continued playing basketball at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
During the 2023-24 campaign, he appeared in three games for the Charlotte 49ers before suffering a season-ending injury.
Before the setback interrupted his season, Rolf recorded his first collegiate points against Greensboro on December 22, 2023. He finished with eight points, two steals, one block and one rebound in 23 minutes.
He returned to competition during the 2024-25 season, appearing in 30 games and making seven starts. He averaged 3.8 points and 2.8 rebounds in 17.2 minutes per game.
After three seasons at Charlotte, Rolf transferred to Youngstown State University for the 2025-26 season.
The move provided an opportunity to take on greater responsibilities and establish himself as a regular contributor.
His redshirt junior season became the most productive statistical campaign of his collegiate career.
Rolf appeared in 31 games and made 30 starts for the Penguins. He averaged 9.1 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 26.7 minutes per game.
He also demonstrated offensive efficiency, shooting 46.1 percent from the field, 36.8 percent from three-point range and 88.1 percent from the free-throw line.
One of his standout performances came on November 24, 2025, against Georgia Southern.
Rolf scored a career-high 22 points in Youngstown State's 67-61 victory. He converted nine of his 14 field-goal attempts, including four of eight three-point attempts, while collecting six rebounds.
He also recorded a career-best 10 rebounds on four occasions during the season. In addition to his scoring and rebounding, he finished the campaign with 64 assists, 26 steals and 10 blocks.
On April 24, 2026, Miami University announced that Rolf would join head coach Travis Steele's program for the 2026-27 season.
Standing 6 feet 7 inches and weighing 210 pounds, Rolf offers Miami an experienced forward capable of contributing in multiple areas.
His 2025-26 statistics provide a picture of his offensive versatility. His 36.8 percent three-point shooting demonstrates his ability to contribute from the perimeter, while his 88.1 percent free-throw percentage highlights his efficiency at the line.
His 4.5 rebounds per game also demonstrate his contributions on the boards.
Another important part of his production is his passing. Averaging 2.1 assists per game at Youngstown State, he showed an ability to contribute to offensive possessions beyond individual scoring.
Defensively, he recorded 26 steals and 10 blocks during the season.
These numbers illustrate a player whose contributions extend beyond scoring, with statistical production in rebounding, passing and defensive activity.
One of the defining aspects of Rolf's collegiate journey is his continued development through setbacks.
His season-ending injury during the 2023-24 campaign interrupted his early progress at Charlotte. The setback limited his playing opportunities during an important stage of his collegiate career.
However, he returned to competition the following season and subsequently established himself as a regular starter at Youngstown State.
His progression demonstrates how collegiate careers can develop through different opportunities and competitive environments.
Although detailed information about his academic achievements, family influence, community involvement and interests outside basketball is not sufficiently available publicly, his documented athletic career provides a clear account of his development.
The 2026-27 season represents another opportunity for Rolf to contribute at the Division I level.
Now listed as a redshirt senior with Miami, he brings experience from two previous collegiate programs and his most productive statistical season at Youngstown State.
The next challenge will be translating his previous production into meaningful contributions for his new team. His actual role and season statistics will become clearer as the 2026-27 campaign progresses.
From competing for an Ohio state championship at Centerville to gaining experience at Charlotte and establishing himself at Youngstown State, he has continued building his career through different opportunities.
His return from injury and improved production during the 2025-26 season are important chapters in that progression.
At Miami, he brings experience from multiple Division I programs and an opportunity to contribute to another competitive basketball environment.
Rich Rolf's basketball journey is defined by championship experience, perseverance and continued development.
From helping Centerville capture an Ohio state championship to recording a career-high 22 points at Youngstown State, he has reached important milestones throughout his collegiate career.
As he enters the 2026-27 season, Rolf brings collegiate experience, perimeter shooting, rebounding ability and a record of continued development.
For the Miami RedHawks, his next chapter provides an opportunity to turn those qualities into meaningful contributions on the basketball court.
