Miles Crutchley built his football foundation at Saguaro High School in Scottsdale, Arizona, a program known for its championship tradition. During his senior season, he contributed to a team that captured its 13th state championship, gaining valuable experience in a competitive environment.

His accomplishments extended beyond athletics. Crutchley earned First-Team Scholar Athlete recognition from the Arizona National Football Foundation and was named a National Merit Commended Student. He also participated in baseball, demonstrating an interest in athletics beyond the football field.

On May 16, 2022, Crutchley committed to Northwestern University as a preferred walk-on, choosing the Wildcats despite receiving an offer from Army. The transition to college football required patience, as he spent his first season adjusting to the program without making a game appearance.

His opportunity arrived on September 23, 2023, when he made his collegiate debut against Minnesota. That season also marked his first Academic All-Big Ten selection, reflecting his ability to manage the demands of college athletics alongside his studies.

Crutchley continued working toward a larger role in 2024, appearing in one game and recording his first career tackle against Ohio State on November 16. He also earned his second consecutive Academic All-Big Ten honor, maintaining his academic consistency while developing as a linebacker.

The 2025 season brought additional playing opportunities, with Crutchley appearing in two games. By 2026, he had reached redshirt senior status and remained part of Northwestern's linebacker group.

Through October 24, 2026, he had recorded five tackles, consisting of four solo stops and one assisted tackle. His most productive performance came against Ball State, where he finished with four tackles.

Crutchley's journey at Northwestern reflects the persistence required to earn opportunities and grow within a competitive college football program. As he approaches the end of his collegiate career, he looks to make the most of his experience and leave a meaningful contribution to the Wildcats.
