Kielmeyer developed his football skills at Westerville South, where he played tight end and outside linebacker. His versatility and leadership made him an important member of the program, earning him two-time team captain honors. He was reportedly the school's first two-time captain in 25 years.

His receiving ability became evident during the 2023 season, when he recorded 18 receptions for 383 yards and two touchdowns across nine varsity games, averaging 21.3 yards per catch. His senior campaign was shortened by injury, limiting him to five games. He finished with 11 receptions for 145 yards and one touchdown while earning honorable mention All-District recognition in Division II.

Kielmeyer's performances attracted interest from Northwestern, Wisconsin, Illinois, and Michigan State. Rated a three-star prospect by 247Sports, he was ranked No. 41 among Ohio players and No. 49 nationally among tight ends in Northwestern's recruiting profile. He ultimately chose the Wildcats to continue his athletic and academic development.

He has the physical frame suited to the tight end position. His high school production demonstrated his ability to stretch the field as a receiver, while his experience at outside linebacker provided additional exposure to different football responsibilities.

His collegiate development requires continued improvement in route running, blocking, catching, and understanding defensive coverage. These skills will be important as he adjusts to Northwestern's offensive system and Big Ten competition.

Kielmeyer joined Northwestern in 2025 but did not appear in a game during his first season. He entered the 2026 campaign as a redshirt first-year tight end wearing jersey No. 48, continuing his preparation for an opportunity to make his collegiate debut and contribute to the Wildcats.

His time at Northwestern is still developing, giving him the opportunity to learn from the program, strengthen his skills, and gain valuable experience. As he continues his college football journey, his progress and potential contributions to the Wildcats remain worth watching.
