Hunter's high school journey at South Medford was disrupted by consecutive right knee injuries. Shortly before her debut season in 2019, she tore her ACL and meniscus. She suffered another ACL tear between her freshman and sophomore seasons, requiring a meniscus root procedure. These athletic setbacks kept her off the court for two years and demanded extensive physical rehabilitation and mental recovery.

After returning, She established herself as one of Oregon's standout players. As a senior, she averaged 24 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists per outing, leading South Medford to the Oregon Class 6A state championship game. Her performances captured her 2023 Oregon Class 6A Co-Player of the Year honors and WAVOR Basketball Showcase MVP recognition. She also received four-star recruit status and ranked No. 82 in the ESPN HoopGurlz Class of 2023.

She began her collegiate career at Oregon State in 2023-2024, starting 34 of 35 appearances. She posted 6.8 points, 3.7 assists and 2.5 rebounds per contest. Her 2.39 assist-to-turnover ratio led all Division I freshmen, earning her Pac-12 All-Freshman Team selection and honorable mention All-Pac-12 All-Defensive Team honors. She also helped the Beavers finish 27-8 and advance to the NCAA Tournament Elite Eight.

For the 2024-2025 campaign, Donovyn transferred to TCU, where she took part in all 38 scheduled matchups and accumulated 5.9 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.6 assists. She claimed a place in the first five during the final 13 program outings, contributing to the Horned Frogs' Big 12 Championship and another Elite Eight run.

Hunter assumed a larger role during the 2025-2026 season, being in the opening lineup for all 38 games and averaging 10.2 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.1 assists. She shot 45.7 percent from the field and converted 60 three-pointers, earning honorable mention All-Big 12 recognition and selection to the conference's All-Defensive Team.

For her senior campaign, She transferred to Westwood , immediately strengthening the Bruins' backcourt. In her debut against Lehigh on November 2, 2026, she posted 14 points, three rebounds, four assists, 2 steals and two blocks in 30 minutes. She shot 6-of-9 from the field in UCLA's 73-53 victory. Three days later, she contributed six points, 5 rebounds and five assists in a 78-42 win over UC Irvine.

Across her initial two appearances, Donovyn accumulated 20 points, eight rebounds and nine assists while committing just one turnover. Her early showings highlighted her scoring, playmaking and perimeter contributions as she adjusted to the Los Angeles squad.

At UCLA, Hunter has a fresh opportunity to build on the career she established through perseverance and consistent development. Having recovered from two major injuries and gained experience across three collegiate programs, she enters the 2026-2027 season with postseason exposure and proven defensive credentials. Her opening performances provide a foundation as she takes on her senior-year responsibilities with the Bruins.
