Okafor developed her court skills through Segle XXI, a Spanish program focused on nurturing promising female players. Her progress earned her opportunities with Spain's youth national teams, allowing her to compete on the global stage.

She emerged at the 2024 FIBA U16 Women's EuroBasket, helping Spain earn bronze while averaging 11.9 points, 5.4 rebounds and 2.0 assists in seven appearances. Her efforts also secured her a place in the All-Star Five.

The following year, Somto competed at both the FIBA U19 Women's Basketball World Cup and FIBA U20 Women's EuroBasket. She posted 12.5 points and 6.5 rebounds per game at the U19 tournament, highlighted by a dominant bronze-medal performance against Canada. She finished with 23 points, 11 rebounds, three assists and three steals in Spain's 70-68 victory. At the U20 competition, she averaged 10.6 points and 3.6 rebounds.

Her development on the international stage attracted interest from American college programs. After initially committing to Arizona in November 2024, she reopened her recruitment following a coaching change. In October 2025, she announced her decision to join UCLA and pursue her path in NCAA Division I basketball.

Before transitioning to the collegiate level, Ofoegbu delivered the finest campaign of her young European basketball career at the 2026 FIBA U18 Women's EuroBasket in Sweden. She posted 15.3 points, 4.9 rebounds and 1.4 assists over seven contests, shooting 51.4 percent from the field and 48 percent from beyond the arc.

She recorded 20 points in Spain's clash with Croatia and followed with 22 in the contest with Italy during the knockout rounds. In the championship matchup with France, she contributed 17 points, six rebounds and three steals to help Spain secure gold. Her outstanding showing earned her event MVP honors and a second All-Star Five selection.

In an October 2025 interview with Spanish basketball publication Campo Atrás, she discussed her priorities for improvement, including decision-making, game awareness, physical consistency and outside shooting. Facing older opponents in international competitions also helped develop her confidence and experience.

Okafor entered UCLA as a freshman guard for the 2026-2027 campaign. She made an immediate impression in the October 14 exhibition against California, recording 15 points, six rebounds, four assists and three steals in 24 minutes while converting seven of her nine field-goal attempts.

She followed that outing with her regular-season debut facing Lehigh on November 2, finishing with three points, one rebound, three assists and three steals in 18 minutes. Despite limited offensive production, Ofoegbu made an impact through playmaking and defensive pressure as she adjusted to the college ranks.

On November 5, Somto recorded another productive performance in UCLA's 78-42 win over UC Irvine at Pauley Pavilion. Coming off the bench, she played 23 minutes and finished with six points, five rebounds, one assist and three steals. She shot two-of-six from the field and converted both of her free-throw attempts.

Her defensive activity and work on the boards strengthened the Bruins' efforts in the convincing victory. Through her first two regular-season appearances, she demonstrated her versatility across multiple areas while gaining experience at the NCAA level.

As she continues adapting to the demands of collegiate basketball, Okafor will look to build on her early achievements and earn a more consistent role in UCLA's rotation. Her ability to impact the game beyond scoring could become an important asset as she develops within the Bruins' program.
